In personnel selection, items of biographical information about the candidates for a job that can be objectively assessed, e. g. qualifications, years of experience, positions of responsibility, etc. Each candidate is scored on the answers given and those whose total scores fall below a certain level are eliminated. This can be an effective way of selecting a short list. See standard application blank
